Welcome to my blog, LEFT SIDE OF THE TABLE! I’m happy you’re here!
My name’s Kelly, i’m 25 and this is my passion.
All things food.
My love for that four letter word, goes far beyond the plate.
I started my blog in October 2013. After many of my friends suggested, I pushed aside the fear of being criticized, and went ahead and created LEFT SIDE OF THE TABLE.
I’m so happy that I took the plunge and started it when I did. It continuously is a wonderful learning experience – both personally and professionally!
Kelly’s Food Philosophy:
I’m all about made from scratch, mostly healthful recipes. You’ll also find desserts. I have sort of a sweet tooth. 😀 I eat dessert
nearly everyday – what’s a life without dessert?!
I believe in quality food and building a connection between you and what you eat.
Making something from a box is against my religion.
I try and eat locally sourced, organic food as much as I can.
I believe your diet – is a direct reflection of your health.
Food not only is fun to eat, but it fuels our body and provides us all with something more.
I believe too much of anything is bad for you – having a well balanced diet is key to great health.
Why LEFT SIDE OF THE TABLE?:
Sitting down and truly enjoying every aspect of a meal is really important to me.
I grew up sitting down at the table every single night with my family. Guess where I sat, the LEFT side of the table. Hah.
A lot of great conversations, food and memories happen around a table. I wanted my blog to not just be secluded to recipe sharing…I have much more to share with the world.
When I was trying to come up with a blog name I brainstormed for days! It was not an easy task. I really wanted to stay away from cliche blog names.
When LEFT SIDE OF THE TABLE came to mind, I just knew..that was it, that was the name of my blog!
What happens when you come over to Kelly’s house for a dinner party?! Chances are i’ll shove food in your face (like the red velvet cake below) from the moment you walk in the door. You’ll hear Frank Sinatra playing in the background and find me in the kitchen with an apron on. Yep, i’m a freak. At least, my sisters claim I am. 😉
Born and raised in Minnesota. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Management with an International Studies minor. I’m grateful to have studied abroad two times during my undergrad in Sweden and France – which tremendously influenced my taste in food and opened my mind to the world.
I live an active life and love to spend time outside.
My sisters – Kristin and Katie – are my best friends and I mention them frequently.
My grandma – Ruth – has always had a huge influence in my cooking.
I’m a walking quote book – and anyone that knows me is probably annoyed by it 😛
For fun I like to read cook books and watch cooking shows….shocker!
I have many food influences aside from my Grandma – Rachael Ray, Julia Child, Alice Waters, Ina Garten…and many more!
In October 2014 I moved from Minneapolis to New York City to get my Culinary Arts Diploma at the International Culinary Center located in Manhattan.
While attending culinary school, I was a Culinary Intern for ABC’s daytime talkshow “The Chew.” I fell in love with culinary TV production and am now the Assistant Food Stylist for “The Chew.”
I’m beyond thrilled for what’s next. Follow along with my food journey and share my passion! It’s bound to be a great ride!
