Hollaaaa 8 WEEKS!!
Here’s what’s happened this week…
I decided not too long ago, especially since i’m beginning Culinary School VERY VERY soon,
I need to experiment more with new recipes!!
Not just MY recipes, but ANY recipes.
Being a food blogger, I feel pressure to post all original content on my blog.
When i’m cooking these days, there’s a pretty good chance it’s for my blog – preventing me from trying new recipes.
There are TONS of amazing recipes out there from talented chefs, food bloggers and home cooks.
And hey…NEWS FLASH – I don’t know it all…
and this is coming from someone who thinks they know it all by the way…ask my family 🙂
I’m only 24.
I’m not supposed to know every single thing about cooking yet.
The Birthday girl today – Ms. Julia Child said it perfectly…
My point of this rant is…i’m opening myself up to truly learn and absorb more in the kitchen.
It’s easy sometimes for people to turn off their ability to learn.
We all have something to learn from each other.
As for cooking it can be a new technique, food pairing or favorite recipe.
Am I right, or is this crazy talk?? 😛
There are many different ingredients I still have never cooked, techniques or even pans i’ve never tried.
This past weekend I met another food blogger from Minnesota – Amanda Paa of Heartbeet Kitchen – at one of her cookbook signings for Smitten with Squash.
I wanted to buy it not only to support an awesome local blogger, but because I LOVE squash, and wanted to experiment more with it.
[If you follow my instagram you’ll recognize all these pics!]
It’s a WONDERFUL cookbook filled with not only loads of squash recipes but stories, tips and tricks.
I was thrilled to dive into it and make something. The first thing I made..was this Cherry Tomato, Zucchini and Blue Cheese Galette.
My first Galette ever!!
The flavors of blue cheese, tomatoes, zucchini, basil and garlic was incredible. The galette crust was buttery and flaky…pure perfection.
How the heck did it take me this long to make a galette.
Another thing I made this week…
Pineapple Upside-Down Cake from Sally’s Baking Addiction!
This was my first Pineapple Upside-Down Cake!
Isn’t it gorgeous?!
I made this for one of the families I nanny – and they loved it!!
I’m going to make it again this weekend, this time for ME to try 😀
The last thing I tried this week..Big Cluster Peanut Butter Granola from Lindsay at Pinch of Yum – ANOTHER Minnesota Food Blogger.
This granola…my god. I cannot put it down. Today I actually measured out 1/2 C. so I wouldn’t sit and eat and eat and EAT it. Highly suggest for PB and granola lovers!
Very happy with my recipe testing this week!
No matter how much of an expert you think you are, you can ALWAYS learn something from others.
The more I continue cooking others recipes, the easier it will be for me to create more of my own.
Thanks so much for visiting LEFT SIDE OF THE TABLE today!
& last but not least…
Happy Happy Birthday to Julia Child!! She would have been 102 today 🙂
