Happy Friday everyone!
Can you even believe Springtime is finally here?? Thank goodness 😀 Now lets just hope it actually gets warmer.
For todays post, i’m beyond to share with you my new FAVORITE yogurt.
Let me introduce to you…
Ok, ok, Siggi’s has been around since 2004 so it really is nothing new! However, it’s new for me and I just had to tell my readers!
Pure yogurt perfection. That’s Siggi’s yogurt.
Ultra creamy, thick, tart, and not overly sweet. Plus, it’s high in protein and naturally fat free.
The crazy thing is I remember seeing Siggi’s yogurt at the grocery store for quite sometime and always thought to try it. Boy am I glad I finallyyyyy did!
So what’s sooo different about Siggi’s?!
First off, they pride themselves in using “simple ingredients, not a lot of sugar.” Many yogurts out there, are filled with additives and preservatives….not to mention sugar. A lot of yogurt brands like Yoplait and Chobani can have as much as 18-20g of sugar in one yogurt cup! Crazy (remember sugar is your enemy when trying to stay healthy!) Siggi’s only has between 9-11g of sugar using agave nectar or cane sugar. Never artificial sweeteners.
Second, Siggi’s is naturally high in protein. Siggi’s uses 3 times as much cow’s milk in one cup of yogurt than a regular cup (as seen on their packaging.) It is then strained to eliminate extra water, leaving a perfectly thick, divine cup of yogurt.
Third, reason I love Siggi’s is because of the company. I felt a true connection when eating their yogurt. Their label actually pulls off giving information about the product to the consumer.
Siggi’s was founded by Siggi Hilmarsson an Icelandic man that moved to the U.S and was unhappy with the yogurt selection here. He missed having a very popular yogurt in Iceland called, skyr. He then decided to try and make skyr himself. Being pleased with the product, he began to sell it.
The rest is history!
I encourage you to visit their website for a more detailed explanation of Siggi’s products and history. Definitely not a boring website!
My mission for this blog not only is to offer you awesome recipes, tips and trends but to connect YOU with quality food. I want to help open peoples eyes to what they’re putting in their bodies. Reading and paying attention to the nutrition labels and ingredient lists on food is so important.
Yogurt is a staple in my diet and for most people. I usually opt for plain greek yogurt and add my own sweetener (honey, fruit.)
I’ll admit, i’m kind of a yogurt snob. Very, VERY picky with what yogurt I buy.
So next time you’re at the supermarket (FYI they don’t sell it everywhere) look for Siggi’s products! Buy one and give it a try! I have a hunch you won’t be disappointed 😉
What kind of yogurt do you like? Aside from yogurt, any food companies you feel connected with? Let me know your thoughts!
Here’s a couple interesting articles about Siggi’s I found!
Another Siggi’s product I love – probiotic yogurt drink!
