Ahhh Sunday, my favorite day of the week.
I love how lazy Sundays can be, that is of course if you let them…
When I was in school and especially during college I hated Sundays…dreaded them! Probably because it was “Homework and Study” day….and of course worrying about the week ahead. Now that i’m not in School, and don’t work on Sundays I can do whatever I want….Awesome 🙂
Anyways…Last Monday I posted about my German friend Denise, I figured why not share another thing she taught me…and that is Ginger tea. Denise and her mom like to make this. It is fresh, homemade and not from a tea bag. It is a fabulous aid to digestion, nausea, inflammation, migraines, high blood pressure and more!
For more nutritional information here is a website I found (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/265990.php)
I love to make this really any time…it is ideal after a meal to aid digestion. I like to add lemon.
Other things you can add: Raw Honey or Mint.
Here’s how you make it for 2 servings!
Ginger Tea with Lemon
- 1 1/2 – 2 Inches of Raw ginger
- about 5 cups
- 2 lemon wedges
1. Take the correct amount of raw ginger and carefully peel off outer skin using a knife. Cut ginger into thin slices.
2. Place ginger in medium saucepan and add water…make sure there is a couple inches at the top for boiling. Let boil over medium heat for about 20 minutes. If you want stronger tea, boil for longer.
3. After 20 minutes of boiling, remove from heat. Let sit for 5 minutes, then serve with lemon wedge. I like to squeeze the lemon to get all of the lemon juice. ENJOY 🙂
As you can see in the pictures right above, I like to snuggle up with a blanket and drink this. Perfect for breakfast. Or perfect right before bed.
Ginger is so fabulous. I hope next time you skip the packaged ginger tea and make your own.
