First off…. I was NEVER a fan of any kind of tea until a couple years ago. Like many people I thought that tea had absolutely no flavor, and I didn’t understand the point of drinking it. Well, that perspective completely changed because now, not a day goes by that I don’t drink at least one cup of tea. My favorite is definitely green tea.
I love starting my morning with a big cup of hot green tea. It gives me a different kind of energy to start my day than coffee does. I feel lighter and more relaxed…probably because the amount of caffeine is much lower in green tea ( Coffee 95-200 mg versus Green tea 24-40 mg.) There are plenty of health benefits that come with drinking it as well.
Green tea tends to be less processed than other tea varieties leaving the healthy components inside the leaves. It is highly concentrated with antioxidants which help flush toxins out of your body. Many medical experts claim it boosts immune system, helps skin, aids digestion, lowers blood pressure, helps prevent heart disease…just to name a few. Oh yeah, and it is said to help prevent cancer. With all these wonderful things that it can do for your body, why would you not drink it? Even if you are in your 20s like me, it is never too early to make healthier choices.
I still love a good cup of coffee or espresso drink from Starbucks. However, I try to keep that to a limited amount and replace it with a cup of tea. It is a good “pick me up” for any time of day. Plus tea has zero calories (if you don’t add milk/honey to it.) Whether or not you love plain green tea like me, there are hundreds of different varieties out there.
So go find a kind of tea that you like, and slowly incorporate into your daily life. I bet just like me, you will get use to it, and grow to love it.
